A few years after learning to walk, we thought it would be cool to fly. Back then we were living in the South, in these countryside villages by the forest, where kids go and dig the dirt. There were several steps in the learning. It included letting go of something you cherish and reclusing yourself for a determined period of time in a confined space. We caught ourselves making spinning tops in clay from the wheels of plastic bins. It taught us about breathing and floating. Things loosened and tightened in cycles. Above all we can say we learned about patience.

‘You’re no better than an animal. If you stay where you are, you’ll be dead before winter is out. If you come with me, I’ll teach you how to fly.’
